More from Egypt...

Today was our first full day in Egypt …what a culture shock.  We were awoken very early with morning prayers that echoed over the city…fantastic!!!
Alane’s son took us around today to some old mosque’s can Christian churches…only 10% if the population is Christian.  3000 mosques in Cario alone.

A Fun Picture!!

Egypt

Below is a message from Kathleen:
Hello Everyone!  First to answer those of you who have been concerned for my safety - NO WORRIES!!  It is very safe!  Like anywhere you travel, you just need to be careful and be aware of the culture.
So, Egypt is fantastic.  The people, the culture, the way they live, what they put up with.  Amazing.  There has not been one day when I have not cried.  Cruising down the Nile (just to be clear, in a boat and a small boat.  No luxuries here!), you got an absolute sense of what life is like on the farm lands.
As emotional as it is, the people are so hapy.  I love the history but I love the people and more.  I was at a temple today and group of 50 students came in.  not well dressed, very poor and loving the attention.  They call me the long one or blondie and love my name or laugh at it.  I had my picture taken with them.  So awesome.

Elizabeth & Emily's Dance Recital

Yesterday, my mother and I drove down to Connecticut to see Elizabeth and Emily perform in their dance recital.  This was Emily's first year performing and she had a little stage fright during her ballet performance.  By the time she and Elizabeth performed in acrobatics together, though, she was in rare form and together, they stole the show!  Then Elizabeth performed in ballet and jazz.  My little nieces did great!!  More pictures at the Clover Street Chronicles .

14 mile Muddy Moose trail run

As most of you know, my running friends are some of my closest and dearest friends. A recent email suggested a 14 mile trail race and the word Fun was in the email. The problem with this run was that there was no 'trail' to speak of, it was 80 degrees and 100% humidty, unbelievable rock climbing, small lakes, and oh, lets not forget the mud...hence the muddy moose. This picture does not do it justice!! Oh...it was fun alright!!!
